By Ruth Garnet

Today, relocating from one place to another has been happening more and more to families and even businesses for a number of reasons. Some choose to leave the old house for a new one with better amenities, while others choose to leave the old community for a better one that fits their culture and social status.

There are people who want to change their lives by moving into a new place. Others choose more possibilities and opportunities for their work or business. One reason for business relocation is the absence of skilled workers in one area and the abundance of these workers in other areas. Taxes are also considered in relocating.

With the pressures of life these days, statistical figures report that close to forty three million people in the US relocates per annum. This is roughly sixteen percent of the total population. The demographics of the group supports that young adults are more prone to relocating than the older ones. Furthermore, single and divorced individuals are also more active than those who are widows or widowers.

In addition, white who are not Hispanic were the least in relocating at nineteen percent. Nineteen percent of blacks and twenty percent of Asian and Hispanics were expected to move in a year.

Reasons for relocating vary between age groups. Factors that influence relocation include age, race, and social and economic status. People renting are more likely to relocate compared to people who own homes and comprise around 52 percent of the total population of movers.

Divorces or marriages that change the family status are a primary reason for moving. Around 25 percent of the population of movers relocates because of family expansion such as marriage. Others move because of work and they comprise about 31 percent.

Choosing one's future is as important as choosing one's education which may mean moving to another place that would give the best opportunities. Those who have finished their college education, or even higher education, are more open to the possibilities of relocating given that at the end of the road leads them to a better economic compensation.

Moving however is very challenging and exciting. Adjusting new environment, meeting new acquaintances, adapting the new place's tradition and customs, these are things you have to consider before planning to move.
