Philips have been the biggest maker of electric shavers in Great Britain for some considerable time now. A cursory look at the 10 most popular shavers in this country shows the fact that a huge five out these ten products are razors that carry the name Philips.
A few of the best liked shavers right now, which simply flew off the shelves during the recently-ended Christmas period, are the PowerTouch Pro PT920 and the AquaTouch AT890. These are relatively new models from Philips, which they introduced just in time for the festive season.
The PowerTouch and AquaTouch are now the best-selling models in the country, but if you take a glace at the specs they're very different.
The PowerTouch model has a strong focus on advanced shaving technology; this could well be Philips' closest shave yet. The PT920 is a triple-track shaver, which gives each shaver head 50% more shaving surface than a standard shaver. This means a closer and faster shave. The PT920 is primarily designed for dry use.
The AT890, on the other hand, has a water-proof seal which means that you can use it to shave wet or dry. It has Philips' excellent Super Lift and Cut technology, which means that each shaver head has dual-blades for an extremely close shave.
Therefore should you go for the Philips PT920 or the Philips AT890?
Simply put, due to its advanced shaving technology, my personal preference is for the PT920 by a fairly long way.
There are a couple of provisos to this, however. If you are on a tight budget, and saving money is crucial to you, then you should go for the AT890 as it's a bit cheaper. With Philips excellent Super Lift and Cut technology included, you can still get a close shave at a more cheap cost.
Second, if you think you're the type of guy that would rather have a shave with foam or gel, then the choice is easy for you; the AquaTouch AT890.
If neither one of these apply to you, then I'd say the PowerTouch wins hands down. It is a fantastic shaver, and is at present available for about 50% off online!
