The Role Of Laser Surgery And Radio Frequency To Treat Snoring And Sleep Apnea

By Dr. Ornouma Srivanishvipat

There are many people who have trouble sleeping because their partners suffer from this condition. Snoring is one of the most common symptoms of people suffering from sleep apnea. There are different types of this condition that affect different people. You should understand the exact type affecting you before you can decide on the best kind of remedy to go for. Surgical operations could be considered but only by the very daring.

Many people tend to resign to these problems after accepting them as part of their nature. This should not be the case because there are many ways through which this common problem can be treated. Before you can embark on a treatment plan though, you need to understand what exactly causes this condition. The main cause of this problem is the relaxation of muscles in the throat when a victim is asleep.

There are about three different types of sleep apnea. They are classified according to the underlying reasons as well as the nature in which it manifest in a victim. The three main types are the obstructive, the central and the complex version. Among the three types, the most common among most victims is the obstructive one which affects the patient and results in loud snoring during sleep.

This kind of condition caused by the tissues from the back of the throat can be resolved by reducing the size of the tissues through laser surgery. Once this is done, the tissues reduce in size and therefore cannot block the trachea even when they relax as they often do when a victim is asleep. A number of patients have undergone this procedure successfully.

Surgery can and has been used to correct the problem. When you carry out laser surgery to the affected area, it will ensure that the extra tissues that relax when you are sleeping to block the trachea is reduced. This will ensure that the victim can sleep without snoring even when the tissues in the said areas relax or contract.

This further ensures that air can pass through without any difficulties. It is a good remedy for persons suffering from this kind of problem. The central version of this problem is not very common. It is somehow linked to the nervous system. This is a more complicated one to understand since it involves lack of proper coordination from the brain to help the respiratory system function well.

There is the third and most complicated type which is not very common. It is referred to as the complex type because it is often a combination of both the central and the obstructive types. It will therefore have a combination of symptoms related to the two.

Considering the fact that many people fear invasive surgical procedures, there are great advantages in the use of non invasive methods of operation. This is because the scars involved in ordinary surgical processes are non existent. The incisive cut takes longer before sleep apnea patients can heal completely.
