Embarrassed Of PPP? Read On

By Pedro Grawlinn

Admittedly, those fleshy bumps or outgrowth on the glans of the male genitalia can be somewhat embarrassing but you can take some solace in the fact that it is a very common condition. Those tiny buds are collectively known as pearly penile papules. There is no medical record of any physiological issues arising because of PPP. The condition is more common in uncircumcised males. Pearly penile papules are medically referred to as "hirsuties coronae glandis", they are basically pearly or flesh colored papillomas that surround the cornea of the glans, the papules are about 1-3mm in size. And, if you are thinking that they are some sort of an anomaly, then you are wrong.

Pearly papules are normal fleshy growth and are non malignant in nature. Note that penile papules resemble genital warts and can be mistaken for them, but unlike genital warts they are not a disease but an anatomical variation. Education is the only weapon against ignorance about PPP. You and your partner should educate yourselves about PPP. And do note that PPP in no way affects performance in bed.

Penile papules start to appear around the same time as when sexual development accelerates, i.e. during the teen years. Although there are no physiological disadvantages, one might feel embarrassed and that might affect performance. Presence of PPP can lead to embarrassment and low self esteem which in turn can affect one's sexual life. It is advisable to mention and explain PPP to one's partner beforehand to avoid confusion and negative outlook. Do note that PPP is often mistaken for genital warts, which is a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

There are no major health risks associated with pearly penile papules treatment. Various treatments include laser vaporization and electro surgery. During laser vaporization papules are burnt off using a medical purpose carbon dioxide laser. In contrast, during electro surgery a current carrying electrode is used to remove the papules.

These days, you can try removing the papules yourself, at your home, with readily available kits. Such kits are available online. These penile papules removal kits are safe provided you follow all instructions carefully, the procedure is more or less painless. The kits are not very expensive, readily available and easy to use. Also, the results are satisfactory. As a precaution, make sure you get tested for STDs and consult your doctor before you try any of the kits.
