Understanding How To Treat And Deal With Your Panic Attacks

Learning how to deal with panic attacks isn't an easy thing to do. Every anxiety issue is unique and affects the person differently. This makes it more difficult to find the prevention and relief techniques that will work best for you.

Don't always be so serious, try to keep a sense of humor about yourself. Read your favorite funny book or watch your all-time favorite comedy. Find things that make you laugh and keep them around for when you need a lift.

It's better to accept a panic attack than it is to try and fight it. Rather than intensely focusing on current, negative feelings, try to divert yourself to the notion that the event is only temporary. You should calmly accept the fact you're having an attack instead of fighting and raising your anxiety levels.

Just stop fighting it. Let healing overcome you so that you can cure your mind of anxiety. Practicing these techniques can lower your heart rate, clear your mind and create surrender. Do not be too proud to let other people help you whenever possible, and make sure to make an effort to help yourself.

If you find yourself in the midst of a panic attack, stop what you are doing, sit down, and focus on your breathing. Draw in air through your nose, causing your stomach to rise. Then, breathe out through your mouth, counting to five slowly with each inhale and exhale. Try to do this process ten times to feel better.

Work on adopting a positive attitude and focusing on what you are doing well, rather than dwelling on your issues. Thin positively, stay in the now, and overwhelm your mind with happiness when the dark thoughts begin.

Focus most on exhalations when you are performing breathing exercises to cope with a panic attack. Inhaling sharply and quickly is alright; in fact, those rapid inhalations common during an attack. The important thing is holding each breath, and then exhaling slowly.

Sometimes diverting all of the negative energy associated with your panic attacks to constructive projects like house cleaning can really help. This will not only give you a way to burn your energy, but it will also help you to clean up your house, and get rid of the visual irritation.

An effective way of dealing with your panic attacks is by seeking professional help. A trained counselor can be very helpful. Just knowing that another person is ready and willing to work with you is encouraging, and will play a large role in your decision to address your problems.

Know when there are panic attacks coming on by knowing the feelings associated with it. Notice what you are feeling prior to onset and write it down. Look over your journal frequently and identify any possible triggers, so that the next time a trigger occurs you will be prepared to divert your attention away from the troublesome trigger, and possibly avoid the panic attack altogether.

Try to look into getting cognitive behavioral therapy if you have to deal with panic attacks. This type of therapy has proven effective with many, there is no reason you can't benefit too. Do your research, and make sure the accredited doctor you go to is experienced in treating panic disorders and anxiety.
