Why Switching Up An Workout Is Smart

So, you always stick to the same exercise routine? This keeps things simple for you, but it actually does less to improve your fitness as time goes on.

As your body becomes more proficient in a certain workout, it burns less energy. So the time you spend in the gym will do less to improve your physical fitness. Not what you had in mind, I'll bet!

To combat this, it's essential that you modify your activity every time. Make it harder for yourself by varying parts of it . If you regularly go for a run, change the experience by adding short sprints and stops and starts, and by following a more winding route.

Increasing the movements required to complete your workout makes you use up more energy and means you'll get good results from it. Experts in physical exercise now recommend this approach, which has been proven to be effective in several different scientific studies.

Another thing you can do is change the equipment you exercise with. It will do you more good to spend 10 minutes on the stationary bike, 10 minutes doing weights, and 10 minutes using the elliptical trainer instead of 30 minutes on the treadmill.

Working out like this requires more effort and enables you to gain better results from the session. It also increases your motivation to exercise, as does the fact that your gym time is not spent going through the same monotonous motions.

Increasing the duration of your workout is another way of improving your fitness. But do this by reducing the amount of time you spend resting between exercises, rather than spending longer on each activity.

By not allowing your body to fully recover after each exercise, you'll trick it into recuperating faster. This is not a bad thing. In the end you'll have exactly what you are looking for - better results!
