Restless Leg Remedy - Effective Tips

By Barney Hameen

Are you considering RLS remedies? Leg pain felt before bed, that tends to ease following movement, is a condition known as Restless Legs Syndrome.

Also referred to as the shaking leg syndrome, the exact cause of the Restless Leg Syndrome has not been found, but it has been associated with obesity, pregnancy, iron deficiency, smoking, anemia, nerve disease, polyneuropathy, hormone diseases like diabetes, and kidney failure, along with the use of certain medications and drugs like H2-histamine blockers and antidepressants. Studies show that this condition advances as a person gets older and may run in the family. Restless Leg Syndrome can occur when you have poor circulation in your legs.

You know that you may be in need of Restless Leg Syndrome remedies when you exhibit the following symptoms: leg pain, tingling, cramps, itch, aching, and burning sensations. And because the symptoms worsen during the night, there is a tendency for the condition to cause insomnia in patients, which leads to aggression, irritability, and less productivity during the day. It's important to treat Restless Leg Syndrome as soon as possible since it can affect the quality of one's daily life.

There are four criteria set by the National Institutes of Health to determine whether an adult or child needs Restless Leg Syndrome remedies. Telling signs that you have Restless Leg Syndrome include: a strong urge to move the legs, symptoms that start or worsen when you are not moving, enjoyment of relief when moving, and symptoms that act up or worsen during the night. A proper diagnosis can eliminate other disorders that can mimic Restless Leg Syndrome such as fibromyalgia or Parkinson's disease.

Restless Leg Syndrome remedies tend to be aimed more at addressing an underlying illness since the problem is usually believed to be caused by another condition. For instance, blood tests may reveal that there is iron deficiency anemia, and this is what's causing the Restless Leg Syndrome to manifest. If that is your underlying condition, your iron levels will be boosted bringing them back to normal. Restless leg syndrome could be caused by an underlying condition like iron deficiency anemia, so if you treat the anemia the syndrome could go away.

Some of the medications used as for addressing Restless Leg Syndrome include: carbidopa-levodopa, opioids, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, temazepam, baclofen, bromocriptine, clonidine, gabapentin, ropinrole, and pramipexole. To restore circulation to your legs, get enough sleep and exercise; reduce your intake of caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol; and consider varicose vein surgery. You can also try your hand at more alternative Restless Leg Syndrome remedies like taking oral magnesium, acupuncture, warm/cold baths, drinking tonic water during bedtime, and undergoing electrical nerve stimulation.
