P90X Workout Equipment - Things You Really Need to Do the P90X Workout?

By Robert Deangelo

If you own the P90X program, you may be asking yourself what type of equipment do I really need for the P90X work out. In this article, you will discover some of the critical P90X workout equipment that you must have.

The power 90 X program was designed with 12 workouts. The entire program can easily be done in the convenience of your own home without having to purchase a great deal of exercise equipment. So you can save your money and forget about buying one of those pricey home gyms you see on TV all the time. Using this at home workout you will be able to achieve your fitness goals and have the body of your dreams.

This is a 90 day program designed to get your body lean and ripped. Simply by following along with Tony Horton you'll be able to accomplish this.

The following is a list of equipment needed for the P90X training program.

*Durable exercise bands

*Sturdy bar for chin ups

*Some type of push-up device to relieve pressure on your hands and wrists.

If you do not have resistance bands, dumbbells can work just fine as well. Unfortunately, you will have to buy multiple sets unless you want to be changing plates. You can purchase the Bowflex Select Tech Dumbbells, but they are not cheap!

For just under $400, you can get the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells, which can give you anywhere from 5 to approximately 54 pounds of resistance. A good set of resistance bands, like the Bodylastics Terrell Owens bands, can provide anywhere from 5 to 249 pounds of resistance. Yet you'll pay less than $100 and have a lifetime warranty against any defects.

Resistance bands are my weapon of choice when it comes to workouts, due to the fact that they do not cost as much, and you can use them in more varied ways. In the event that resistance bands are more up your alley... Either the Golds Gym Resistance Bands or the Bodylastics Home Gym will meet all your needs. You can get more options with the Bodylastics one.

Now, let's take a look at what type of chin up bar is required in the power 90 extreme workout program... There are some options here, if you're looking for low-cost. You can use the resistance bands to do pull downs, instead of doing chin-ups or pull ups. If you want to follow the exact program, then look for a basic doorway chin-up bar, which will run around $20 as opposed to the $50 you'll have to pay for the one sold by P90X.

So, what's the story with doing push-ups? The reality is that you can get away without using push-up stands or some kind of Push-up Pro type exercise device. However, these types of devices do provide you with some benefits. Predominantly, they allow you to go deeper in the push-up and help you avoid problems with your wrist. There is a cheap alternative and that is to do your push-ups between chairs. Just like Charles Atlas recommends in his dynamic tension course. Nevertheless, you can buy a set of these for fewer than 30 bucks.

In terms of P90X workout equipment, that seems to run through all of your options; floor mats are also advisable if you want to perform ab exercises.
