Once you've decided that you are going to practice the sport, find the nearest trails in your area that are accessible to you. You'll also need to be aware of the additional gear you need.

Three types of gear ranging from the level of importance are discussed here. First, the essential things you need when you go mountain biking are your helmet and water. Next, to make it more comfortable you should wear cycling pants that have padding and suspenders. Sunglasses are always welcome as they protect your eyes from the sun. Finally, there are the tools that you can add to your gear if you feel you need them and can afford them - ex. night lights and bike computer.

There are also biking moves that can be mastered to make mountain biking easier. A few are jumps and also the bunny hop which allow a person to avoid obstacles in his or her path.
