If a mother is sincere with her motherhood and really loves her child then it is impossible for her to throw her child in front of any killer being like a crocodile. What so ever it may take. It is not a way to please God by killing the young ones so brutally. Consider what if that child may were you, and you would be tore into pieces by the beast!

People know what is right and what is wrong? People are the better judge who can rather make a conflict or remove conflicts between any matter including religions.
So, leaving or entering things doesn't matter, the thing which really matters are the inner of each individual. You have to behave good with every individual because you never know where God is. It could be in that person, who you are killing or who you are deceiving! So wait for a moment and think that what we are doing?
Understanding things correctly is a good thing but understanding the holy books is something different we could only know the sum how of some words and could create our own meanings and thoughts what ever we like.
