A Woman's Thoughts For Putting An End To Loud Sleeping Habits

By Christie Stevens

Most of us snore at least once in awhile. For some people, snoring is much more serious and severe. While the majority of people fall into the once in awhile category for snoring, it would still be nice to know how to stop. A few small changes at night can help the snoring end.

Breathing through your mouth is bad when you are laying down because it lowers the jaw and allows the tongue to fall back. This causes snoring, but you can train yourself not to breath through your mouth. When you notice incorrect breathing, focus on correcting it to train yourself to breath correctly.

If you lay on your back when you sleep it can have a lot to do with the snoring. If you position yourself on your side and find a way to stay there, it will diminish the snoring. You can use pillows or perhaps even a tennis ball sewn into your pajamas to keep you on your side.

If your nose and throat are moist it can help reduce snoring. Nose or throat sprays can be useful. A humidifier will keep the air you breath moist while you sleep.

A useful product for snoring is a nasal strip. These strips come in adult and child sizes and adhere to the outside of the nose. The strips lift and open the nasal passages to make breathing easier.

When a person is exhausted it is more likely that he or she will snore. If you set a routine for sleeping and make sure to get enough rest, it will help eliminate the snoring.

If you are a smoker the damage being done to your airways will contribute to snoring. Smokers end up with inflammation which restricts airflow and promotes snoring. Sleep apnea is also a risk of smoking.

If the tissue inside the throat is loose it will make snoring more likely. Alcohol and being overweight makes these tissues loose. Loosing weight may eliminate snoring altogether.
