How To Determine The Acne Treatment Solution For You

By Oliver Greene

The beauty industry brings in a fortune every year. So long as women are looking for ways to maximize their attractiveness, this industry will thrive. Every year, new products are developed to try to grab a piece of this large market.

One of the most popular beauty items is acne prevention cream. Anything that discourages acne, blackheads, and breakouts is hugely popular with consumers.

If you shop for an over the counter acne product, you'll find a dizzying selection. It can be hard to decide which to choose. Here are some tips to help you find the right OTC acne treatment for you.

1. Check online for customer reviews. If you trust the company promotion literature, they all say that their product is super effective and will be the best treatment.

Check to see if there is a forum or location where customers can post both positive and negative reviews of the product. If not on the company site, you can find reviews on other sites on the Internet.

You should expect to see a mix of positive and negative reviews. Some people may have a negative reaction to an otherwise quality product because they are sensitive to an ingredient, or because it is not designed for their skin type. But you should be seeing more positive than negative reviews. If you see lots of horrible reviews and only a couple positive ones, figure that the product is likely a poor investment.

2. Keep your skin type in mind. Part of choosing the right product is knowing your skin type and choosing accordingly. Ingredients that are fine for one person many not be fine for another.

Ask the customer service person if the product you are considering is better for certain skin types. It may be designed for people with oily skin - and be overly drying if your skin is dry. There are products for oily, normal, combination, dry, and sensitive skin. Some products are usable by more than one type and there are even some products that can be used by anyone.

3. Read the ingredients list. There will be a label that lists all ingredients in the product. You need to read this before purchase and make sure there's nothing listed that you are allergic to or that you have reacted to badly in the past.
