Tips For Gardening In A Hot Climate Region

By Henry Mansford

Gardening in Florida is a challenge if you are not accustomed to gardening in a hot climate. Gardening is a great pastime. But if you are in a hot climate you need additional help to make your plants grow great.

As for climate, here are some things you can do to avoid killing your garden with heat. Some plants do not do well in hot climates so you may wish to chose plants that do grow well in that climate. This will save you time and effort.

You need to be aware that new plants may need to be handled differently, so do your homework before you plant. This will save you trouble later.

Plants shrivel and die fast in this climate so be careful to give them enough water. Begin at two or three times what you would normally water a garden in a mild climate. You need to water more often, not just more water.

Start by planting your garden in an area that receives as much rain as possible. This will keep the roots healthy and your plants growing like weeds.

Another solution is to plant deep so that the roots can spread out and get all the water possible. Water is the main key, so do all that you can to make it available to plants.

If you are growing the things that you have always grown in the north these steps will help you break the can't be done cycle and surprise your neighbors.

A word about weeds is enough to help you understand that they are water stealers. They need to be avoided if you are to get those challenging plants to grow.
