Varicose Veins Can Be Taken care of & Your Legs Look and feel Lovely Again

By Andy Morris

Varicose veins are the bane of our existence for years. They were not one of the clinical problems caused by our wealthy way of life. They have an impact on a huge number of people & together with being undesirable can result in numerous problems.

The darkish blue or purple physical appearance of varicose veins is because of the veins getting swollen & filled with blood returning to the heart. The blood has significantly less oxygen which in turn alters its apparent colour to blue. Many veins are near the surface of your body and so the end result is the bumpy, lumpy blue looking appearance.

The figures show quite clearly females are afflicted more than men by varicose veins. It's partially because of pregnancy staying a quite widespread cause of varicose veins and also female hormones hurting the walls of veins. There are of course a number of other causes such as your inherited genes, how old you are, being overweight & your occupation. It is thought standing upright for a long time results in the progression of varicosities in the calves. Nonetheless some people will often get them devoid of very clear underlying cause.

The problems caused by varicose veins vary quite significantly between individuals with many hardly bothered and many others significantly stricken. The primary issue reported by many is the objectionable look of their legs. Other common problems include things like puffiness of the lower legs & feet, sore legs, night time leg cramps and extremely thin, dried out and itchy skin round the veins.

The identification is easily done by checking out your legs. If you're sent to a vascular aesthetic surgeon they can do an ultrasound assessment to determine the correct therapy choices.

The only cure for varicose veins is surgery. Although compression stocking may help the symptoms they have not been shown to halt the progress of the problem. They are also unsightly to wear. The well established surgical procedure is called ligation & stripping. Basically a wire is pushed down the vein from groin to toe, & then pulled out bringing the vein with it.

Other treatments include sclerotherapy, which is used on small to medium sized veins. An irritating fluid is injected into your veins. It damages the vein walls and the scars from healing close off the vein. In addition you may have radiofrequency treatment or laser surgery. They each have their benefits & risks & your surgeon will explain which is best for you.

After recovering you will only have a few small scars & no lumps & bumps. So you can relax in the summer and enjoy the fine weather. Definitely don't make it possible for circulation problems to get you discouraged
