Junior Golf Fitness and Why You Should Introduce Your Kid to the Sport of Golf

By Dennis Duncan

If your kids are big fans of miniature golf why not introduce them to the sport that their parents play as well? The transition from miniature golf to the big league sport can be a smooth transition with the right mentoring.

Let's talk about some of the benefits of getting your kids off the miniature golf addiction and on the links. You get to spend more time with your family doing what you love.

Golfing is great exercise for the whole family. I recommend passing on renting a golf cart and always walk the greens. It is not only exercise you'll get but when walking together between shots you will have an opportunity to talk about things that are important to you and your family.

Golf is a gentleman's game. Sportsmanship is the cornerstone to the game of golf. Teaching your kid golf etticate will translate in to other phases of his or her life.

You will teach your kids about integrity. Integrity goes a long way in life. With fewer kids spending time with family and mentors integrity is waning in today's society.

When playing golf you have to have consideration for others. Just by hitting the greens you'll be showing your kids how to be courteous and aware of what others are doing. There are specific golf rules that have to be followed. Otherwise, someone will get hit over the head with a ball or fall in to a pond.

Walking 18 holes of golf is fantastic exercise. Many courses are so big that it will take you hours to walk the entire course. So, if you'll skipped renting a cart, you'll be better off and improve your cardio performance. Junior golf fitness, nutrition and psychology are all important elements when teaching young kids the game of golf. Getting a kid on the right path early on in their career increases their chances of becoming a successful golfer and, maybe with some extra effort, get them up to the PGA level. It is not impossible to do if you just remain diligent at your craft and have a steady schedule of practice.

Did I mention that golf is BIG fun? Even the beginner can have fun with golf. Most will excel at putting and struggle at driving. Put patience is necessary to get better at both of them. You may also try getting some one on one coaching for your kids to help them get over the learning curve of entry level golf.

Also, if you've ever thought about living near a golf home then now is the time to buy and get the family moved in. There are many golf homes available on or near golf courses nationwide. Nothing like being within walking distance to a golf course. Especially, when your family enjoys the sport as well.

There are probably many more reasons that you should let your kids tag along with you on your next golf outing. I'm sure they'll remind you of all of them while you are on the way to golf course. You know kids love to do a lot of talking from the back seat right?
