Learning About Yoga Weight Loss

By John Thomas

In order to lose weight the body must burn more calories than it ingest. It seems simple, but many struggle to shed excess pounds. To burn those calories a regular exercise routine must be established, and most think of exercise as vigorous cardio workouts, or weightlifting sessions, but yoga is an ideal method for losing extra pounds. Yoga weight loss sessions are extremely beneficial as an addition to any exercise plan.

While it is true that vigorous activities like running and walking will burn the most calories, any movement also accomplishes this. Typing while sitting at your desk will burn calories. You even burn calories while sleeping. The multiple poses and stretching movements that are performed during this exercise will burn fat.

This method of exercise strengthens the muscles. The posing and maintain certain positions for extended amounts of time firms and tones the body. Muscle strengthening is also a fat burner. The stronger the muscles the more fat burned.

High stress levels can lead to weight gain. A stressful life increases the stress hormone cortisol. This hormone will cause the body to store fat and it also causes a sluggish metabolism. This exercise is a great way to decrease stress and thus the amount of cortisol that is released by the body. Decreased cortisol means easier shedding of pounds.

Some regain the pounds after they have been lost. This form of exercise is a great way to keep the pounds off once they have been lost. This method is great to add to the daily routine once the dieter has reached their goal.

Using yoga weight loss sessions only is not likely to produce extreme results, but used in addition to other forms of exercise it is a bonus. It is a good catalyst for those just starting an exercise plan, or for those who have health ailments that prohibit them for performing other vigorous forms of activities.
