Successful Yeast Infection Treatment - There is Danger with The Wrong Diagnosis

By Samantha Smith

Oral Candidiasis must be treated with prescription medications and only a few have been approved. The problem comes up when we take into consideration that the cellular membrane of the yeast fungus is about the same as the cellular structure of the fungal membrane. So there is an obvious concern, and rightly so, that a medication will not cause harm to human cells while trying to kill the fungus (yeast) cells. The strict criterion that must be applied to these drugs has resulted in approximately ten being approved for oral use. External yeast infections, of course, are a different matter and the oral drugs mentioned above are meant for use when an internal yeast infection is present.

A doctor's visit and exam is the singular way you will know for sure that you have a yeast infection and what the best treatment is. You may have experienced identical symptoms previously, but you are still taking a wild guess that the cause is the same. There are three different conditions that are called "vaginitis" and you could have one, two, or a combination of all three. If you self-treat, you take the risk of treating for the wrong infection and could worsen your condition. And what will happen then? You will have to visit your clinic or doctor.

There are still a lot of women who treat themselves when they feel the beginnings of what they suspect is a vaginal yeast infection. Your situation, however, may be different this time due to the variables inherent in a vaginal infection; so, learn as much as you can and seriously think about calling your doctor for an appointment.

What are some of the recommended situations that should be cause for seeing your doctor for suspected vaginal yeast infections? If you have a yeast infection when you are pregnant, the treatment your doctor prescribes will, as a rule, be different than if you weren't pregnant. Another situation is if you have never experienced this type of infection before. Antibiotics often bring about a yeast infection in women. But if this is not true for you, if you rarely take antibiotics but still have frequent yeast infections, the wisest course of action is to visit your health care provider. And it's extremely important to talk to your doctor if you think your yeast infection was sexually transmitted.

More often than not, you will be able to successfully treat and eliminate your yeast infection quite easily. One type of yeast infection that is not so easy to treat is a chronic, or systemic, yeast infection that infiltrates your whole body.

Yeast infection treatment is usually quite successful even if the condition was not immediately addressed and has become worse. There are different circumstances that come into play with regards to treating the symptoms of a yeast infection, for example, the location of the infection. Usually people who have an infection will not allow too much time to pass because the condition obviously gets worse and more unpleasant. A yeast infection in your gastrointestinal tract is not something to take lightly and you must see your doctor immediately to begin treatment before it gets more out of control. Don't be misled by the fact that a majority of simple yeast infections respond to treatment well and are usually gone in 7 days. There are other yeast infections that can have much more serious consequences. For this reason, never lightly disregard any symptoms of a yeast infection..
